Paradise Meadows – October 8, 2026

Fifteen members and two non-members travelled to Strathcona Provincial Park near Comox, Vancouver Island to explore trails at Paradise Meadows. Many of the walks through the fragile sub – alpine ecosystem are protected by extensive boardwalks. Members enjoyed the antics of the Canada Jay (Wiskey Jacks) and the Steller’s Jay and spent some time feeding them. Two members collected water samples for DNA analysis whilst others enjoyed the walks through the forested areas. Following the walks, a well deserved rest was enjoyed at the Cumberland Brewing Company before returning to Nanaimo.
