Some 20 members were welcomed and guided at Hamilton Marsh near Qualicum Beasts by local conservationists Ceri Peacey, Lynne Brookes and Liz Bredberg from Arrowsmith Naturalists on the morning of January 21. The history and status of the Marsh’s acquisition were highlighted. In a nearby farmer’s field, members took in a large flock of trumpeter swans. Following lunch at several local restaurants, approximately half of the group proceeded to the Englishman River Estuary in Parksville where Dave Hutchings. (Arrowsmith Naturalists) expertly led a tour.
