Meeting with Paul Manly, MP for Nanaimo-Ladysmith

December 20, 2019

Nature Nanaimo’s Board of Directors, Michael Stebbings, Carole Lee and Staffan Lindgren, met with Mr. Paul Manly, MP for Nanaimo-Ladysmith, on December 18 to introduce our organization and to discuss issues of mutual concern. We discussed a number of issues, e.g., the climate crisis, habitat protection, plastics pollution and the need for stronger regulation of single use plastics. Mr. Manly provided important information on procedural matters for communicating with Members of Parliament, and how to create and submit petitions on issues we wish to raise or support. We look forward to future interactions with Mr. Manly!

  1. Shopping bags is only one item, what about the packaging industry: you buy cookies in a plastic tray than in a paper bag ! Not just in a paper bag.
All the plastic bags used for taking the veggies and fruit to the check out.
Most hardware items etc. Batteries in a plastic package difficult to open, light bulbs etc.etc.
Many prepackaged grocery items. Also the garbage / garden and kitchen waste plastic bags ?

    NOT JUST SHOPPING BAGS !
